The Edward Vason Jones Scholarship
The Edward Vason Jones Scholarship for the Rome Drawing Tour was established in 2000 by ICA&CA Fellow, William H. Bates III, to provide support for a qualified applicant to participate in the Rome program. Edward Vason Jones (1909 – 1980) was a self-educated Georgia neoclassical architect. His works include the first renovations to the Department of State Reception Rooms from 1965 to 1980, renovations to the White House during the Nixon, Ford and Carter administrations, and residential projects large and small scattered east of the Mississippi.
In addition to his restrained and elegant American architecture, he is known for his documentation of historic Georgia architects in the form of sketches, drawings and photographs. This archive influenced his projects throughout his life.

A $2,500 scholarship will be granted to a deserving applicant based on the quality of sketches or drawings submitted along with a compelling desire to participate as described in an application essay.

To be determined when the next Rome Drawing Tour program is offered.
Eligibility
The faculty will be looking for a United States citizen of any age, of any background, who desires an opportunity to discover the classical tradition through drawing in Rome and Naples. The faculty will look for exceptional talent or promise as measured by examples submitted.
